What works: Everything except network play / WFC / WIFI. These games freeze in DeSmuME periodically. Use lots of in-game saves. What's needed: An anti piracy patch is reported to help reduce the freezing, but it isn't recommended unless you're sure youre stumped. Google is your best friend here (hint: Rudolph's patch). Optimal Settings: Soft Rasterizer.
Enable Textures is needed (threshold: 0), the rest of the 3D settings don't make a difference. Advanced BUS Level-Timing is not needed, disable it.
External BIOSes and firmware are not needed. Sound works well with Dual SPU Synch.
Optimal speeds: Decent speed+limited frameskip: Frameskip 9, Auto-Minimzed skipping enabled. High speed, limited frameskip: Frameskip 4-5. Highest speed: Frameskip 9. Use x64 if your system supports it.
Don't use SVNs unless you know what it means and you want it (note: official releases are optimized and give a huge FPS boost if you don't optimize your SVNs). Notes/Game FAQ:.THIS GAME (like most of the games honestly) IS SLOW ON LOW END COMPUTERS.
IF YOUR COMPUTER IS FROM 2006 OR EARLIER YOUR FPS WILL MOST LIKELY SUCK.GBA slot works WITH A SAVE FILE (.sav) OF VBA OR ANY OF IT'S UPGRADES/PORTS.SAVE TYPE is automatic. I repeat, AUTOMATIC.As with all pokemon games, make an in-game save as early as possible and relaunch the emulator to verify that it can be loaded.
This will help make you feel secure that when you get to the end of the game and need to reset and load a save file, it will work.If you didn't download the emulator from the official Desmume site then it WON'T WORK, no matter what youtube guide you used. There may be a slight speed drop from 0.9.6 and below, but if you use 0.9.6 and below and you face an antipiracy then I'm not gonna answer your questions.
Feel free to ask any questions regarding this game here. Fuji xerox 236 driver windows 7. Just reflects poorly, in my opinion, on the way you come across. Anyhow, I'm not planning to ban anyone for asking a question about a game that isn't supported, or that was already answered.
First of all, banning is a bit of a problem since it works via IP. In today's world of ever-changing dynamic IPs that will both be useless for banning that user and disruptive to a different, innocent user who might receive that IP and be unable to enter the forum. Besides, if they're banned - how will they be able to come back and read Zero's scything remark on their mental aptitude? Alright, potential n00b question, so I apologize: I haven't had problem with freezing, but it seems that my 'touch screen' part of the game is not fully working.
I am only in the very very beginning, but when the mother gives me things like the map, phone, pokedex, whatever else, etc, I don't have a menu to choose from. I even got to the point where I am in the woods after meeting Prof. Juniper and the bottom touch-screen simulator only has a pink screen with no buttons or anything. Is this normal? Or is this a glitch?
I am playing Desmume 0.9.7 on Mac. Maybe thats why?
Okay, so I'm using an R4, and I downloaded the US rom of Pokemon Soul Silver. The problem is that the game freezes every once in a while. Usually in transitions to and from battles and stuff like that. But sometimes, it just seems like it does it randomly. I heard the Japanese rom had the same problem, but that someone made a fix for it.
Cuz I know that the japanese rom works great. Anyway, I was wondering if there is a way to fix this problem on the US rom as well. If someone knows or have heard anything, please tell me! Thank you so much.
Oh, and I'm not really experienced when it comes to stuff like this, so if the answer's really obvious, don't make me feel bad about it, okay? Thanks and bye. ^ No, that would solve nothing, Alexander. If you read Yoshi's post better, you'd clearly see he isn't having the black screen problem. Sadly Yoshi, this IS a problem that is still unsolved.
There is no fix available yet that stops the random crashes for Soul Silver OR Heart Gold, and as far as I know, it doesn't matter which language/region your game is; they're all broken if you're playing on emulator. Either there needs to be a patch made for the game, or the emulators themselves to solve the problem. I have the exact same problem, as does anyone else trying to play this on emulator (I mostly get completely random crashes like you, but trying to save the game causes me problems too). Many out there are working on fixing this, and some talented folk have it partially solved resulting in much fewer crashes. But they're far from perfect at the moment.
That code ONLY fixes the black screen freeze at the very start of the game. Any crashes that occur after that are still going to happenjust the same; completely unrelated to the black screen fix/code. And again, if you're playing SS or HG on any emulator (and you play long enough), you're going to get random crashes until a true fix is released. A number of people on youtube are claiming they have a 100% crash-free fix for the American version roms up for download, but they're all hoaxes and viruses. Be sure to keep away from these files. And no offense Alexander, but giving advice on a topic you aren't familiar with and spreading misinformation doesn't help anybody.

Pokemon Heart Gold Online Game
Play normally. Open up Task Manager. The emulator will use around 180MB at first, then slowly climb past 200MB.
Once it hit around 199MB, save game, reset. Only got one crash this way and that was at the beginning of a trainer battle. With 64bit version of the emulator, before the game crashes, all the textures will become corrupted. But as long as you don't enter/exit areas or go into battles, you can still walk around.
During that state, you can still save you game. After saving, the game will crash, just reset reload and pick up where you left off. The game has a well documented anti piracy check. It checks memory below 8000 which is accessible on flashcarts but not on the original game(you see a bunch of read below 0x8000 errors in the debug). When enough events have happened(around 24, decreasing with the more badges you get) you will get a crash. As far as I was told by squall the emulator seems to handle these memory checks like a real DS, which makes it possible that emulator antipiracy checks are also present.
To date the game will not work on flashcarts that have not updated a fix for antipiracy. In that same manner, it often crashes on DeSmuME. The developers should particularly look into the ROM's behaveior and see what other abnormalities it is trying to perform, and get those exceptions to be handled like on a real DS. I already tested it, and I got mixed results. HeartGold let me pass through doors 200 times with no freezes, 0 badges. SoulSilver on the other hand, gets that sprite mess after around 60 events then it locks up. On HG I don't have a pokemon yet following me but on SS I do.
Again flashcarts DO NOT cause the sprite corruption, they simply blackscreen. This is leading me to believe that: 1.

There is a specific emulator AP that obviously no flashcart patches(they don't need to), and that crashes the emulator. There is a compatibility problem with the ROM that causes the emulator to undergo corruption. The second is looking more and more likely since AP looks like it's been defeated.
I dont see anything that relates to what I'm going through now. If this question was already anwsered, I'm sorry but I have to ask. Okay, I'm using No$gba 2.6a.
Its been workin fine and all. It used to crash from time to time, but I thought I knew how to work over that. I've been saving every 10 minutes or around there. It was working fine. For some reason now, its been crashing everytime I save. I've been saving every 3 to 5 minutes, cause thats the only way its been workin now. But its annoying cause now I have to keep X'ing out and re-open the NDS.
It acctually started doing that when I got to 'Suddowoodo' however you spell it. That dancing tree. Now, basicly I'm spending more time reloading it than actually playing it.
I dunno what I should do now, cause I dont want to start all over. I just got my 3rd Gym Badge. Is there any way to fix this? I'd appretiate it, and for those that going through the same thing, you know. Yeeeup Im at the Milktank ranch place now, I skipped pass the next city after Goldenrod to battle trainers, I train mine as much as I can. I already got HM03 too.:thumb: but you know what I noticed, cause I'm acctually testing it now to see whats the problem. It happens at random times when I save.
But usually, its when I battle. When I go into battle for the first time, its fine. When I go into a 2nd battle or maybe 3rd battle, after that battle, if I try saving it says 'The Rom-image has crashed' so whats this mean? I gotta save after every single battle I have?
Thats gonna suck. Lol I need a suggestion. There has to be another way.:/.
